The Classes for A/L students will be commenced on 20th of May. The Zonal Director, Divisional director and Members of Bentota pradesheya saba will participate in this occasion.

The Gonagala Maha Vidyalaya is a rapidly growing school in the Elpitiya Zone with human and physical resources. There are about 2000 students and 75 academic staff. The former principals with teachers did considerable effort to make this school better one. And also current principal with teachers are doing grate role to develop this school as the best place where children in gonagala and suburb can learn.

This school was establish in 1930 with 20 students and 7 teachers in deltuduwa area of the gonagalapura. But when the number of students is increased, the school was shifted to current location. Today there are about 10 building in secondary section and about 7 building in primary section. And New building is being constructed with help of Southern provincial council and Old Students.
